Wednesday 3/18: Complete the Walt Whitman assignment for today. Due at the end of Wednesday. There will be a quiz on Walt Whitman and "O Captain! My Captain!" tomorrow.
Thursday 3/19: Take Walt Whitman quiz. Work on Unit 5 Vocabulary One Pager due Friday 3/20. Begin working on your Flip Grid Presentation. Directions on Google Classroom under Vocabulary. Due Friday.
Friday 3/20: Finish and turn in vocabulary one pager and complete and turn in one pager Flip Grid Presentation.(Watch you classmates' Flip Grids)

Thursday 3/26: Finish the "Caged Bird" assignment on Google Classroom. There will be a Maya Angelou review Zoom at 1:00 this afternoon (I am going to try a Gimkit). See Google Classroom for invitation. Maya Angelou quiz tomorrow.
Friday 3/27: Complete the Maya Angelou quiz. Work on any incomplete assignments. Work on Independent Reading.
Friday 4/3: Make up any missing work and continue working on Independent Reading assignment (logs due Wednesday).

Tuesday 4/7: There are two assignments on Google Classroom to complete today. Start with the "Act One, Scenes 1-3 Words to Own" assignment. These are the 5 vocabulary words you are responsible for knowing. Read the directions on the assignment. Then complete the "Act One, Scene 1" assignment. Monday 4/6: We will begin reading the play "The Diary of Anne Frank" this week. Today your assignment will help you gain the background knowledge to help you understand the play. Start by going to the "Before You Read" assignment on Google Classroom and read ALL directions carefully. Make sure to explore ALL the information provided, including the EdPuzzle under the category "The Diary of Anne Frank". Don't forget to TURN IN your assignment at the end of today.

Tuesday, April 21
Continue working on the two assignments you began yesterday (Act 1, Scene 3 and Act 1, Scenes 1-3 Review). Both are due tomorrow at 8 am. Tomorrow, our Zoom will be a review of Act 1, Scenes 1-3. Please bring all questions you have about the material. The Act 1, Scenes 1-3 Test will be on Thursday, April 23 and it will include comprehension questions, flashback, and words to own. Please study.

Today you will begin reading "The Diary of Anne Frank" Act 1, Scene 3. Please go to the Google Classroom and complete the two assignments. 1. Act 1, Scene 3 and 2. Act 1, Scenes 1-3 Review. Both assignments are due Wednesday at 8 am and will help you bgin to prepare for Thursday's TEST on Act 1, Scenes 1-3 and the Words to Own.

Monday 3/16 - Go to Google Classroom and work on the final draft of the How-To guide (directions on the Google Classroom assignment)
Tuesday 3/17 - Finish typing your How-To Guide on Google Classroom (make sure to include pictures to help the reader visualize the steps)
Wednesday 3/18: Add pictures to your How-To Guide, self revise and edit using the rubric, and read it to someone at home. If you finished that, work on mastering IXL - Grammar and Mechanics - JJ. 1(If you mastered JJ. 1 pick any activity from section Z.)
Thursday 3/19: Electronically share your How-To Guide with any other 8th grader (more than one if you want) to have them peer revise. Make sure to keep comments kind and relevant to the assignment and rubric. I will be commenting on everyone's guides today so you canwork on final revisions. Review the presentation requirements under the Presentation Assignment.
Friday 3/20: Finish revising How-To Guide and turn in paper. Work on Flip Grid How-To Presentation Due Wednesday 3/25.
Monday 3/23: Continue working on your How-To Guide Presentations. Due Wednesday.
Tuesday 3/24: Continue working on your How-To Guide Presentations. Due Tomorrow.
Wednesday 3/25: Finish How-To Guide presentations on Flip Grid. Master IXL Grammar and Mechanics JJ. 1. If you already mastered that one, choose one that you have not yet mastered from Grammar and Mechanics Z Sentence, fragments, and run-ons.
Thursday 3/26: Master IXL Grammar and Mechancis JJ. 1 (Many have not done this). If you did, keep working on mastering skills in section Z. Sentence, fragments, and run-ons.
Friday 3/27: At this point everyone should have mastered IXL AA. 2 and JJ. 1, if you have not, please do so by the end of the day. If you have, continue working on activities in section Z.
Friday 4/3: Revise and edit the 3 types of poetry you have completed so far. Read the requirements for the online poetry anthology project. Work on the title slide, the table of contents slide, and the 3 slides for the poetry we have completed. Title Slide and Table of Contents slides due Monday, the 3 Poetry Slides due Tuesday.
Thursday 4/2: Continue working on your Ballad. Please take your time with this assignment (review the requirement slide caerfully). Make sure all poem draft (cinquain, limerick, ballad) are on their own docs in the "Poetry Anthology" assignment.
Wednesday 4/1: Zoom Class today will go over how to write a Ballad. 8A 10:30 and 8B 10:00. Links in Google Classroom.
Tuesday 3/31: Complete the "Limerick Lesson" on Google Classroom. Limericks due tomorrow at 8am.
Monday 3/30: Go to Google Classroom under the "Poetry Writing" category, watch the screencastify directions in the assignment "Cinquain Directions 3/30/20", and follow the directions explained.
Thursday 4/9: Finish your concrete poem and work on your "Online Poetry Anthology" assignment. You should have completed 6 slides. Due today.
Wednesday 4/8: Continue working on the "Concrete Poem Lesson" on Google Classroom. Once you have your poem, add a new slide to your "Online Poetry Anthology Project" for the concrete poem. Concrete poem and slide due Noon Thursday, April 9.
Tuesday 4/7: Complete the "Concrete Poetry Lesson" on Google Classroom and begin drafting your original concrete poem (can be hand drawn or computer generated). Add a Concrete Poetry slide to your project. Concrete poem draft and new slide due Thursday, April 9.
Monday 4/6: Finish slides on your Poetry Anthology project. At the end of today you should have the title slide, and the table of contents slide completed. Tomorrow the cinquain slide, the limerick slide, and the ballad slide should be completed. I suggest electronically sharing with a friend to revise and edit your slides. We will be learning about the next form of poetry tomorrow.

Today, you will learn about 2 more forms of poetry; Haiku and Free Verse. Go to Google Classroom watch the Haiku/Free Verse Directions video and read both the Haiku and the Free Verse lessons. Complete the final 2 slides on your poetry project - the haiku slide and the free verse slide. Make sure to check over the requirement pdf. Slides are due Monday, April 27 at 8am. DO NOT turn them in, we will be revsing next week.
Tuesday, April 21
Continue working on your poetry slides. You should have completed the title slide, the table of contents slide, the ballad slide, the concrete poem slide, the limerick slide, the cinquain slide, and the diamante slide by tomorrow at 8 am. Please make sure to finish the slides, that includes a background and illustrations. Make sure the words are easy to read, and that the poems are focus of each slide.

Today in the Zoom class I will go over Diamante poetry. Please complete the Diamante Poetry assignment on Google Classroom and add a Diamante Poetry slide to your project. Diamante Slide is due Wednesday at 8 am.
