Pre Algebra
The Pre Algebra textbook in seventh grade is Sadlier-Oxford, Fundamentals of Algebra, 2009 edition.
Language Arts
Writing: Writing is taught as a process that is based on the 6 Traits: ideas and content, organization, voice, word choice, sentence fluency, and conventions. Emphasis is placed on the importance of the writing process and the various types of writing. Rubric scoring guides will be used to assess student writing.
Grammar: Usage and mechanics will be reinforced and reviewed. Textbook: Strategies for Writers
Vocabulary: Vocabulary will be taught through Vocabulary Workshop (Sadlier-Oxford) and word lists from novels.
Literature: Students will read critically, identify genre, conflict, resolution, mood, style, and theme. There will be a variety of novels read in class.
Religion
We will use the Loyola Religion Series Grade 7, Loyola Confirmed in the Spirit and PFlaum Gospel Weeklies Faith Formation Program
Social Studies
Seventh grade social studies covers the time period from 1500-1865. From The Colonial Period to the Civil War, we will be busy studying how our country came to be.
